Are you new to OGPC and want to learn more about how it works? Are you a returning veteran eager to learn about this year’s theme? Either way, attending a Game Jam is a great way to start off season 12 of OGPC with a bang. Come play some games that will help sharpen your game design skills, eat some pizza, and get excited about this year’s theme.
Coaches, come with your teams to learn how OGPC works, network with other coaches and get your team(s) fired up for the 2018-19 OGPC season!
When and where?
The 2018-19 season starts on November 17th. The following locations have offered to host Game Jams on that day to kick things off:
- Franklin High School (Portland)
- Wacom (Portland)
- Career and Technical Education Center (Salem)
- OSU Cascades (Bend)
Registration is Open
Registration is free, but ESSENTIAL for us to make sure we can plan for food, materials and support. (Not every team member has to register, a coach can simply report how many people plan on attending.)
What to Expect
The schedule at Game Jam will look something like this:
10:00: Intro and announcements
10:15: Game brainstorming activities
12:00: Theme reveal for competition season
12:15: Team brainstorming
1:00: Head home and start creating!
What do I need to bring?
Nothing! Game Jam is not about programming or using tools. You will not be using a computer or learning anything related to programming. Game design and software development professionals often use “low-fidelity” techniques in the early stages to test and explore ideas before translating into a computer program, and that’s exactly what you’ll be learning at the OGPC Game Jam.
What if I’m not part of a team or I’m the only one who can come?
Just sign up and join the event! We will be mixing up groups for the brainstorming activities, so not having a team with you won’t mean you are working alone all day.
